Google Chrome

Its been a while since I took a look at Google Chrome. The beta for the Mac is getting stable and now supports bookmark sync and extensions. Two huge wins! This is why I am trying it out again.

General Stuff
First off, its really, REALLY, fast. My javascript runs quick on GMail, Google Reader, even on non-Google heavy javascript pages.

Bookmarks Sync is just nice. I have tried a few services that have this but it was always a pain to use. This is integrated with Google Services and works in the background so I don’t notice it.

Another small but big thing I like is that it supports the 3-Finger Swipe (MultiPad Gesture for MacBooks) for Back/Foward on browser.

Which Extensions I’m Using:
AdBlock by gundlach - Of course, who surfs the web without this? Must must install.

Switchy! - Proxy Switcher, it works. Its simple. One click and I’m on a different proxy setting.

Google Voice Extension - Adds a Google Voice button, just trying it out.

RSS Subscription Extension (by Google) - Auto-detects RSS feeds and displays an RSS button. I use Google Reader a lot, so this extension is a must. They have a few so I’m just trying this one out.

Some of these items like proxy switching and RSS Subscription didn’t seem to be supported without extensions. I guess its not a huge deal to other people, but I like that fact that I can install them and I have options on which ones to try. I wonder how well the extension management/upgrades will work, which we will find out over time.
