iPhone Mixed Messages from AT&T. (This is an update from my previous post.)

Check iPhone upgrade from AT&T’s site. (Or dial *639# from your iPhone to check and they will send you back a txt message)

AT&T Site:
“As a valued AT&T customer, we can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price, along with a 2-year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. Please proceed with the online upgrade process for pricing details. You may qualify for a full discount on a standard iPhone upgrade on 12/18/2009”

So WTF does discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price mean?

AT&T Dial *639#:
“A full discount on a standard handset or iPhone upgrade is not available at this time, but you may qualify on 12/18/2009. We can offer you an iPhone upgrade at a higher price with a 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. Please visit a participating iPhone sales location for pricing on this offer.”

This message says a full discount is not available.

But they both say:
“an iPhone upgrade at a higher price with a 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee.”

If I try to pre-order or look at phones through AT&T’s site they all say:
2-Year Term Renewal.
Apple iPhone 3G S - 16 GB - Black
Price: $399.00

2-Year Term Renewal Price
Apple iPhone 3G S - 32 GB - Black
Price: $499.00
