New URL for my Blog
Hey Lazyweb,
I just updated my URL. Its now http://blog.rungeek.com. A sub-domain of my site www.rungeek.com.
You shouldn’t have to change anything through the magical power of the internets ;) haha. But just letting you know.

Hey everyone,
I really would like to buy a new Mac book for Black Friday, but I just don’t feel right about buying it. On this day I can get ~$200 discount which is why I am waiting. I have lots of reasons for wanting to purchase this new notebook, (First Mac, OSX, iPhone SDK, ect…), however, with the economy in this downward spiral I just don’t feel comfortable making this...

Will: I'm sure it will be blocked soon.
Bernie: In about 8 months, they'll have nothing but Real World, and you'll have to go to www.mtvmusic2.com if you want to actually see music videos.
Bernie: http://www.mtvmusic.com/video/?id=55086
Will: Music videos... I remember those.
Will: They're like from the 80s.
Will: :)
Will: Argh. You just rickrolled me.

Guess I got Wi Fi access through my phone now… sweet. But I already had free Wi Fi with the Starbucks Gift Card… so its a little late =P

The first looks came from the PDC 2008.
Java is fading as a Web development tool… along... →
Philip said:
Who is using Java these days to build great things?
My work is pretty much Java based, however, were dealing with ground systems. We build great things here, but for Web Development I will have to agree with him. The tools for .NET are far superior for web dev. Java has dropped the ball on that.

Remotely Eavesdropping on Keyboards →
Keyboards are how we enter in most data (Usernames/Passwords). These people have figured out a way to capture keystrokes by monitoring the electromagnetic radiation of PS/2, USB, or laptop keyboards. They’ve outline four separate attack methods, some that work at a distance of as much as 65 feet from the target!
App Store Updates
In the App Store Application why don’t they have an “Update All” button? I have to check the updates for each app and then click update and then go back to the app store and update the next app. This is just a pain. Apple please fix this!
Google Earth now available for iPhone →
The world just got a little bit smaller. Google Earth is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch, allowing you to fly to the far reaches of the world from the palm of your hand.
Its already #1 on the Top Free Downloads in the App Store.
Traveling Salesman Problem
Jon just started at his new job. Congratulations! So last night were chilling at Starbuxs and talking about it. He tells me he needs a Thomas Guide so he can find out where people live and drive to the next closest house. Being the programmer that I am I see this automatically as the Traveling Salesman Problem (If your not into Math or Computer Science don’t worry about all that NP-hardness...
Programming Style... do you have any? →
So I heard that Google has a list of Style Guides for each programming language increase readability (this also makes everyones code look the same). They run linter’s over your code and you can’t check in (commit) unless you follow that style. You also have a pass a code and readability review.
Heres one for Javascript
Google’s C++ Style Guide and Objective-C Style Guide are...

Math.Min(x, x - 0) = ?
I have so been here before.
Call it confirmation bias, call it superstition, but as developers and human beings, we’re all susceptible to it. Say you’re working on a particularly tricky bit of code, so you’ve fallen back on the “try all kinds of crazy crap until it passes the specific test case” method, an invaluable tool for all developers. You find an approach...
Women with fastest time didn't win the Marathon →
This type of news upsets me. I hate companies like Nike when they get so big that they can’t even hold a simple race. Sorry you didn’t win b/c you did not file the proper paper work. Well then just switch her to the right class and she won the Marathon. This is broken.
It doesn’t get much simpler than a footrace. All it takes is a starting line, a finish line and a clock. You...
Best of Craigslist: Why I'll be the Best 'Psycho'... →
franklieu:
I know that all your ex-girlfriends are ‘psychos.’ I’ve heard all about them since hardly a day goes by that you don’t make some eye-rolling reference to ‘that crazy bitch’ who practically ruined your life and then went off and married some successful ‘douchebag’ leaving you to troll local college bars in search of no-strings-attached ass while she enjoys quiet weekends at home with...
How To: Disable Your Passport's RFID Chip →
All passports issued by the US State Department after January 1 will have always-on radio frequency identification chips.
The best approach? Hammer time. Hitting the chip with a blunt, hard object should disable it. A nonworking RFID doesn’t invalidate the passport, so you can still use it.
$30,000 Prize For Solving iPhone Game Puzzllotto →
Puzzllotto. The game, styled after titles such as Myst and Zork, will be available in the iPhone App Store later this week for $4.99.
The rules, fundamentals of Game play, Game format and overall objective of the Game have been intentionally omitted by Sponsor (i.e., the developer of the Game). The Game does not tell you how to play or how to win: the challenge of the Game is for the player to...

Shiboya: Yo, yo this is Shiboya here. Ha ha HAH! RED-Buuuuuuull!!!
Shiboya: I'm on the ground here with Skeeter. Say wassup Skeeter.
Skeeter: WASSUP!!! Hahaha.
Shiboya: Skeeter's here reppin' Team ESPN College Gameday. Give it up, give it up! Lot of fans out here. Red Bull baby.
Shiboya: Now Skeeter, I gotta ask, on a scale of 1-10, how well is your team gonna tear up this race here today?
Skeeter: A million! We are gonna fuckin' uh...like, uh....tear it up! YEE-AH! Give it up!
Shiboya: Hahaha, aight Skeeter, aight. You heard it here, a million baby! Can't wait to see this go down. Back to you Jay.
Jay: That was Shiboya with Team ESPN College Gameday. Wow. 1 million. That's high. That's a high number Stu, what do you think? Can they deliver?
Stu: I don't know Jay. It's gonna be tough. Whenever we do the 1-10 question, we never get an answer below 12. So there's some good competition out here. Red Bull brings it hard baby!
Stu: Skeeter told us earlier he expects his car to reach 200 miles per hour. That's fast. Wow. Can they do that Jay?
Jay: Stu, I don't know. Average speed has been about 16 so it's a lot. It's a lot. Here comes the skit. Let's see what they got for us.
